A Seguin woman has been sentenced to five years in state prison for driving while intoxicated and assaulting a police officer.
Joy Marie Sneller, 49, pleaded guilty Wednesday afternoon to two counts of felony driving while intoxicated and one count of assault of a public servant, and 274th District Judge Gary L. Steel sentenced her to a five-year term in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on each of the three offenses. The five-year sentences will be served concurrently.
Driving while intoxicated becomes a felony after a second conviction for that offense, and Sneller also was charged with assaulting Joseph Manguso, a Cibolo police officer.
In other cases heard Wednesday by Steel, Derick E. Sanchez, 26, of Seguin, pleaded guilty to two counts of forgery by check, and he was ordered to serve a 200-day sentence in a state jail. Sanchez was charged with passing forged checks at local convenience stores.
Mark C. Day, 27, of Houston, pleaded true to four of six allegations in a motion to adjudicate guilt, and Steel ordered him to serve 150 days in the Guadalupe County Jail. Day had received two years probation with deferred adjudication on a charge of possession of marijuana, more than 4 ounces, less than 5 pounds.
Juan Castanon, 56, pleaded guilty to felony driving while intoxicated and received a 10-year probated sentence. Steel also ordered Castanon to perform 100 hours of community service and to pay a fine of $2,000, court costs of $489 and other fees totaling $7,300.
Randall Louis Carroll, 24, received five years probation after pleading guilty to felony driving while intoxicated. Carroll also was ordered to perform 250 hours of community service and to pay a fine of $1,000, court costs of $464 and other fees amounting to $3,700.
Juan Antonio Mendez, 30, received four years probation after pleading guilty to theft of property, more than $1,500, with two or more previous convictions. Steel also ordered Mendez to perform 120 hours of community and to pay a fine of $1,000, court costs of $339 and other fees totaling $2,994.
William Robert Davis, 55, pleaded guilty to evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and received three years probation. Davis also was ordered to pay a fine of $500, court costs of $369, attorney fees of $940 and other fees totaling $2,274.
Anais Sanchez, 23, received two years probation with deferred adjudication on a charge of interfering with child custody, a Class A misdemeanor. Sanchez also was ordered to perform 24 hours of community service and to pay a fine of $500, court costs of $253 and other fees totaling $1,440. Read More
